THE CHALLENGE
Communicating Value Early in a Complex CNS Access Environment
The introduction of CMS Coverage with Evidence Development, layered onto an accelerated approval pathway based on Phase 2 biomarker data, fundamentally expanded the scope of pre- and peri-launch stakeholder engagement.
While early payer communication is standard, stakeholders needed to engage beyond value exchange to align on evidence-generation requirements and establish new care pathways and operational infrastructure, spanning infusion capacity, site-of-care coordination, biomarker-confirmed diagnosis, genetic testing, and ongoing safety monitoring.
THE BREAKTHROUGH
Reframing Payer Engagement from Value Communication to End-to-End Care Pathway Education
Rather than relying on a traditional value narrative alone, BGBx recognized that decision-makers needed a clear understanding of how a novel neurology therapy would be implemented in practice, clinically, operationally, and economically.
Using our 3D Science approach, integrating clinical science, data science, and behavioral science, we developed and validated a payer value proposition structured around the full patient journey.
The resulting materials enabled field medical, HEOR, and account teams to communicate consistently with payers on:
- Patient identification requirements, including diagnostic and biomarker confirmation
- Treatment administration logistics, including site-of-care and delivery considerations
- Safety monitoring protocols requiring ongoing imaging or follow-up
- The downstream economic impact of disease progression and early intervention
By shifting the focus from isolated value messages to a comprehensive view of the treatment pathway, this approach equipped payers to evaluate the full set of requirements needed to support access and implementation.
