CASE STUDY | MEDICAL COMMUNICATIONS
When Scientific Alignment Was Missing, We Unified the Narrative.
THE CHALLENGE
Clinical Evidence Was Established—But Not Consistently Activated in Practice
A global pharmaceutical company sought to improve early identification of patients at risk for renal disease. The Urine Albumin-Creatinine Ratio (UACR) is one of the earliest and most sensitive markers of chronic kidney disease, yet it remained underutilized in routine clinical practice.
As a result, a significant portion of at-risk patients were not identified early enough to initiate guideline-directed therapies that slow disease progression and reduce cardiovascular risk.
The challenge was not a lack of clinical evidence—but inconsistent translation of that evidence into clinical understanding, peer-to-peer communication, and everyday decision-making. To drive change, the organization needed a Medical Communications strategy that could establish clarity, consistency, and urgency across specialties.
THE BREAKTHROUGH
Establishing a Unified Scientific Platform to Translate Evidence into Clinical Action
BGBx identified that the barrier was not awareness alone—it was alignment. UACR was not consistently used as a shared clinical signal across specialties, limiting its impact on early detection and treatment decisions.
Through our proprietary Breakthrough Process, powered by 3D Science, BGBx Medical Communications experts established a unified scientific platform—positioning UACR as a standard risk marker and creating a consistent clinical narrative across all stakeholder interactions.
The approach included:
- Core narrative development to establish aligned communication points across all materials and interactions
- Speaker content development, including slide decks, case-based learning modules, roundtables, leave-behinds, TL videos, and FAQ documents
- Speaker training through train-the-trainer and speaker training programs
- Multichannel medical communications across speaker programs, HCP materials, and educational channels
- Clinical integration tools and resources to support incorporation of UACR testing into routine workflows
This structured approach transformed fragmented education into a cohesive Medical Communications system to ensure scientific consistency, strengthen peer-to-peer engagement, and enable broader adoption of biomarker testing in practice.
THE RESULTS
Stronger Scientific Alignment and Increased Biomarker Adoption in Practice
- Strengthened alignment across Medical Affairs and Field Medical teams
- Increased engagement through peer-to-peer education
- Supported broader adoption of UACR testing in clinical practice
- Enabled earlier patient identification and more consistent use of guideline-directed care
This approach transformed scientific education into a coordinated Medical Communications system that helped drive real-world clinical action.
